ACADEMY OF LEARNING
INTERVENTION CLASS
Math Intervention
Math intervention class will begin with Academy of Math. This online program will be used three days per week for about 30 minutes each day. Your child will come into the room and log on to this program. He/She will receive intervention from me when the need arises. I will be watching them during their computer time, and I will be noting areas that need to be addressed.
After Academy of Math, your child will receive instruction on specific math skills. These deficit areas will be determined from the MAPS, state tests, and classroom observation. Your child will receive intensive, rigorous, and specifically targeted instruction in these areas. After an assessment on the targeted skill that was taught, your child will then continue to be instructed in other deficit areas. Problem solving will used often in order to increase your child's critical thinking skills, flexibility in strategy use, math reasoning skills, math operational skills, stamina, and perseverance.
LITERACY INTERVENTION
Your child will again receive individualized instruction in his/her learning. Through the gathering of data from MAPS and state tests, I will be able to determine what your child's literacy learning needs are.
I will be using LLI (Leveled Literacy Intervention) during the two days your child has intervention class with me. About 30 minutes will be used on LLI. The other amount of time will be used on developing comprehension strategies, decoding, vocabulary, and language skills.
Your child will also receive reading instruction that will include fluency, comprehension, accuracy, and vocabulary development.

Coaching, conferencing, record keeping of data, data analysis, and goal setting will be utilized by the students. The students will be actively involved with their data, their learning, and their goal setting, which will help the student own their learning and be accountable for their learning.
