Phy-Ed 9-10 Email This is my 20th year teaching physical education at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School and I enjoy it greatly. I have coached JV girl's basketball, 7th and 8th grade girls basketball, 8 years of varsity volleyball, 3 years of 8th grade vollebyall, 3 years of girls track, 1 year of dance team and for 16 years I have been the district Athletic Director. As you can see, I enjoy sports, watching them and coaching them. I also enjoy watching my students improve daily in the phy. ed. units, in the weight room, and also in the sports they participate in. I stay in shape, mentally and physically by working out in the weight room and going on runs. I have participated in a few 1/2 marathons and shorter races. I live with three cats, Snowball, Monty, and Gizmo and they greet me everyday when I go home. I have one younger brother who lives down in Hancock near our parents and works in his own construction business. Mission For The Class The purpose of the physical education program is to contribute to each student's growth and development in the physical, cognitive, and social domains through a movement-based curriculum. Physical education is an important and unique part of the daily instructional program. Not only does it contribute to the overall goals of education, but also contributes to the development and maintenance of fitness, motor skills, social skills, health, and brain development. Physical activity is the method by which learning takes place. Quality instruction in physical education involves the "whole child" by providing psycho-motor, cognitive, and affective benefits.
